Only 37% of 3 crore healthcare, frontline workers fully vaccinated in India

Vaccination coverage against COVID-19 among healthcare and frontline workers in India continues to be lower than the estimated goal of 3 crore with just around 37% having been fully vaccinated thus far. An additional 91 lakh have received only the first dose till now.

The coverage continues to be low, considering that vaccination started in the country on January 16 with health workers, followed by frontline workers, with a mere 2.36 crore health and frontline workers registered for vaccination, despite the fact that states and UTs were advised to pre-populate this group. If we consider the number of registered health and frontline workers, the coverage of the fully vaccinated ones increases to 47%, still less than half… (ET Healthworld – TNN, April 19, 2021)
