AAP Calls for Universal Masking in Schools

All the staff in schools as well as students above 2 years of age should wear masks when they come to school this fall, irrespective of their vaccination status, suggests the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).

AAP issued new guidance on Monday which is stricter than the CDC recommendation. The CDC recommends that schools should maintain a distance of at least 3 feet between students within classrooms, in addition to indoor mask wearing by those who are not fully vaccinated, to limit the risk of transmission risk, on the basis of studies from 2020-2021 school year.
