The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the State Department have cautioned against travel to Spain, Portugal, Cyprus and Kyrgyzstan, due to a spike in COVID-19 infections in these countries.

The CDC’s travel advisory was raised to ‘Level Four: Very High’ for these countries, stating that the people of America should avoid travel to these places. The State Department issued a ‘Do Not Travel’ advisory. The CDC also raised its advisory rating to ‘Level Four’ for Cuba on Monday. The State Department already had Cuba at the rating of ‘Do Not Travel’. The CDC has also cautioned about the surge in COVID-19 cases in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, and has lifted the travel health notice to ‘Level 3: High’. The State Department had Israel at the rating of ‘Level 3: Reconsider Travel.’ (Reuters, July 27, 2021)
