The Mumbai crime branch conducted raids on clinics being run illegally by fake doctors in Shivaji Nagar and arrested five individuals. 

According to an officer from unit VI of the crime branch, they raided five clinics simultaneously based on a tip-off. The police officials were accompanied by a team of doctors.

The team checked the details of the people who claimed to be doctors and it was found that they had no qualifications to practise medicine. These people were not registered with the Maharashtra Medical Council, stated an official. The police seized several medicines, injections and stethoscopes from the clinics.

An FIR has been lodged at Shivaji Nagar police station. The accused, 43 to 59 years of age, include Mehtab Hasan, Nagendra Mishra, Mohammad Idrisi, Mohammad Alam and Wasim Khan.

The police have arrested several people in previous years as well who were practicing as doctors using either fake certificates or after buying them from qualified doctors.
