Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has been found to generate more than double the antibodies of a similar shot of Pfizer vaccine in a study that compared the immune responses to the vaccinations.

The study included close to 2,500 workers from a Belgium hospital system. Researchers noted that the antibody levels among individuals who had not been infected with COVID-19 prior to getting two doses of the Moderna vaccine averaged 2,881 units/mL, compared to 1,108 units/mL in a group of people who had received two doses of the Pfizer shot. The findings suggested that the differences might be explained by the greater amount of active ingredient in the Moderna vaccine (100 micrograms vs. 30 micrograms in Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine), and the longer between-dose interval of the Moderna vaccine (four weeks compared to three weeks for Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine). The findings are published in a letter to the Journal of the American Medical Association… (NDTV – Bloomberg, August 31, 2021)
