COVID-19 cases in Kerala come down to 29.3k; India's tally falls below 45k

The daily COVID-19 case numbers in Kerala declined slightly below 30,000 on Friday, taking India’s tally to below 45,000 for the first time in three days. 

The country recorded 42,654 new infections on Friday, while data was still awaited from Jharkhand awaited till late on the day. The case numbers were 45,641 on Thursday and 45,979 on Wednesday, as per TOI′s COVID database. The country registered 325 fatalities related to COVID-19 on Friday, representing the lowest daily death toll in 158 days since March 29, when 268 deaths were recorded. 

Deaths due to COVID-19 have shown a significant decline this week, largely as Maharashtra and Odisha reported fewer deaths. Maharashtra reported 92 fatalities on Friday, while Odisha reported 7. Kerala recorded the highest fatalities at 131, while Karnataka and Tamil Nadu reported 19 casualties each… (ET Healthworld – TNN, September 4, 2021)
