England is set to start offering a COVID-19 vaccine to all children aged 12 to 15 years following the advice of top medical advisers stating that children would be benefitted from reduced disturbances to their education.

A unanimous recommendation was made by the Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) from the four nations of the United Kingdom to offer a COVID vaccine to all children 12 to 15 years of age. The vaccine rollout will start next week. The children will be given the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. Vulnerable children in this age group were already eligible for the jab. 

The CMOs stated that second doses would not be offered to this age group at least till spring, and they would like to wait for more data to be available from across the globe… (Reuters, September 13, 2021)
