Nutritional Assessment in Hemodialysis Patients to Identify Factors Predicting Poor Outcomes

  1. The study results showed that the prevalence of malnutrition among the chronic hemodialysis patients in the present study as assessed by SGA was 29.1%.
  2. There was significant correlation between nutritional status assessed by SGA and BMI, MAC and TSF. Thus, these parameters may be seen as good measure of nutritional status of hemodialysis patients.
  3. Hemoglobin, serum albumin, serum creatinine, serum bicarbonate, serum phosphorus, serum calcium and blood urea nitrogen levels did not have predictive value of poor outcomes in hemodialysis patients.
