6 new cases in Karnataka, Gujarat; India's tally rises to 81

The Health Ministry sources reported that 5 new Omicron cases were reported in Karnataka and 1 in Gujarat, taking the country’s total Omicron cases tally to 81.

32 Omicron cases were reported in Maharashtra, which is the highest anywhere in the country, followed by 17 in Rajasthan, 8 each in Delhi and Karnataka, 5 each in Gujarat and Kerala, 2 in Telangana and 1 each in Chandigarh, West Bengal, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. 

The total COVID cases till 8:00 AM, on Thursday, was 7,974 with 343 deaths in the last 24 hours. The weekly positivity rate was 0.64 %, which continues to be less than 1 % for the last 32 days. The daily positivity rate was 0.57% which remained below 2 % for the last 73 days and below 3 % for 108 consecutive days.

The data stated that India had conducted 12.16 lakh tests yesterday, aggregating to a total of 66.02 crore tests done so far and administered 60.12 lakh vaccine doses till 8:00 AM taking the total inoculations to more than 135 crores.
