Complainant: I repeatedly requested the doctor to give me the medical records of my son admitted under his care so that I could take a second opinion.

Doctor: The medical records belong to the hospital.

Judge: As per MCI Act, you are required to give medical records within 72 hours.

Lesson: Patients have the right to receive a copy of their medical records. (Regulation 1.3.2, MCI Code of Ethics Regulations)
