Artificial intelligence and machine learning have made comprehensive fraud analytics proactive. The development of algorithms that can be used on large volumes of data to identify suspect transactions and entities has helped hospitals in analyzing risk scores and claims. On Friday, Minister of State for Health, Dr. Bharti Pawar, stated that the Ayushmann Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana is governed as a zero-tolerance approach to any kind of fraud, such as a suspect or non-genuine medical treatment claims, impersonation, upcoding of treatment packages, etc.

She added that anti-fraud advisories had been issued to states and union territories. Also, anti-fraud units have been created at NHA for overall monitoring and implementation of the anti-fraud framework supported by state units. She added that Chhattisgarh accounts for the highest number of claims in which penal actions were taken for fraudulent hospital transactions under the scheme, followed by Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Kerala, and Jharkhand.
