High TSH levels during active surveillance indicates advancing papillary thyroid microcarcinoma

Sustained high serum TSH level during active surveillance is associated with progression of papillary thyroid microcarcinoma, says a study published in the February 2018 issue of the Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism. Maintaining a low-normal TSH range with levothyroxine treatment during active surveillance may be considered, the study suggests.
