The Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has been diagnosed with kidney disorder and is most likely to undergo renal transplant this week at the All India Institute of Medical Science(AIIMS).

Jaitley, 65, had undergone several diagnostic tests at AIIMS on Thursday where doctors indicated that he is suffering with kidney complications.

Confirming it, Jaitley tweeted, "I am being treated for kidney related problems and certain infections that I have contracted. I am therefore currently working from controlled environment at home. The future course of my treatment would be determined by the doctors treating me."

According to the sources from AIIMS, a team of senior nephrologists including Dr BK Bansal have constituted a committee to look into Jaitelys case.

It is most likely that finance minister will be admitted for kidney transplant within a couple of days. Depending on doctors advice, he may be shifted to the Cardio-Neuro Tower at (AIIMS).

A senior doctor on the condition of anonymity said, "The finance minister has been advised to avoid going out in public as he might catch infection and he is being treated by experts here."

He has not been attending office since Monday and is clearing files from his residence. He even skipped taking oath after being re-elected as Rajya Sabha MP from Uttar Pradesh. His term as a Rajya Sabha MP from Gujarat ended on April 2.

Due to falling ill, finance minister has cancelled his visit to London next week for annual economic talks, sources close to the minister said.Sources from AIIMS informed that the finance minister also suffers from chronic diabetes which has also affected his vision and gets the treatment done regularly at AIIMS.

He had gone through a heart surgery several years ago. In 2014, he underwent a surgery to treat weight gain that he suffered because of a long-standing diabetic condition.

That surgery was first performed at Max Hospital, but he then had to be shifted to AIIMS because of complications.

It is important to note that Jaitley is a key member of Prime Minister Narendra Modis cabinet and presented his fifth and the present NDA governments final full budget on February 1.
