According to a study published online May 23, 2018 in JAMA Dermatology, patients with hidradenitis suppurativa are at a greater risk of Crohns disease. In the study, Crohn’s disease was found in 2% of patients with hidradenitis suppurativa compared with 0.6% among those without hidradenitis suppurativa. In view of this, the authors recommend a gastroenterology referral for these patients.
