ESC/ESH 2018 guidelines for management of hypertension
The new 2018 European Society of Cardiology (ESC) and European Society of Hypertension (ESH) guidelines recommend treating to a systolic BP target targeting systolic blood pressure to 130 mm Hg, and lower if possible, but not lower than 120 mm Hg. The recommended target is less than 140 mm Hg for patients aged 65 and older, as tolerated, but not less than 130 mm Hg.
