Restricting fluids during surgery and for 24 hours postoperatively in patients undergoing major abdominal surgery at increased risk for complications offers no advantage in improving disability-free survival compared to liberal fluid regimen in patients, according to a study published online June 14, 2018 in the New England Journal of Medicine.
