Off-Label use of antipsychotics increase weight and decrease insulin sensitivity in children
Off-label use of antipsychotic drugs (aripiprazole, olanzapine or risperidone) in children and adolescents with behavioral disorders results in clinically significant increases in total and abdominal adiposity and significant metabolic effects, including weight gain and decreased insulin sensitivity as shown in a study published online June 13, 2018 in JAMA Psychiatry.
