Look for alternative cause for thrombocytopenia if platelet count is less than one lakh during pregnancy

As per a study published July 5, 2018 in the New England Journal of Medicine, the mean platelet counts decreased during pregnancy in all the women, beginning in the first trimester. But, a cause other than pregnancy or its complications should be considered in women who have a platelet count of less than 100,000 per cubic millimeter.
