Study identifies haplotype predisposing to highest risk for childhood nephrotic syndrome

Children who carry the HLA haplotype HLA-DRB1*08:02-HLA-DQB1 (odds ratio: 3.60) have the highest risk of developing childhood nephrotic syndrome, while children who carry the haplotype HLA-DRB1*13:02-HLA-DQB1*06:04 (odds ratio: 0.10). These findings were published online July 16, 2018 in the online edition of Journal of the American Society of Nephrology.
