Physical therapy non inferior to arthroscopic surgery in meniscal tears
The ESCAPE randomized clinical trial, which compared the effect of early surgery and physical therapy on knee function among patients with nonobstructive meniscal tears demonstrated that among patients with nonobstructive meniscal tears, physical therapy was noninferior to arthroscopic partial meniscectomy for improving patient-reported knee function over a 24-month follow-up period. The study is published October 2, 2018 in JAMA.
