Multistep diagnostic strategy may exclude pulmonary embolism during pregnancy

A diagnostic strategy based on assessment of clinical probability, D-dimer measurement, bilateral lower limb compression ultrasonography and computed tomography pulmonary angiography (CTPA) can safely rule out pulmonary embolism in pregnant women according to a multicenter, multinational, prospective diagnostic management outcome study reported in the Annals of Internal Medicine, online Oct. 23, 2018.
