Prophylactic pantoprazole may be avoided in ICU patients
Findings of the SUP-ICU of more than 3000 ICU patients at risk for gastrointestinal bleeding published October 24, 2018 in the New England Journal of Medicine show that 90-day mortality, percentages of days alive without the use of life support, and numbers of patients with clinically important events, infectious adverse events, or serious adverse reactions were similar between those treated with once-daily pantoprazole and those who received once-daily placebo.
