Henoch-Schonlein purpura patients are at greater risk of hypertension and CKD

Patients with IgA vasculitis (Henoch-Schonlein purpura) are at a greater risk of hypertension and stage G3–G5 chronic kidney disease (CKD) compared with individuals who do not have IgA vasculitis. No association was observed with ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease or venous thromboembolism All-cause mortality was increased in the adult-onset IgAV cohort compared with controls. These findings from a retrospective study from the UK were published online in the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases.
