A new study published online in the June 19, 2019 issue of the journal Neurology shows that risk of sudden death is not just limited to those with severe, difficult-to-treat epilepsy; even people whose epilepsy is well-controlled are at risk of sudden death. In nearly all of the cases (93%), no one witnessed the death. A total of 70% of the deaths occurred during sleep.
