SC dismisses petition seeking directions for safety, security of doctors

New Delhi: The Supreme Court Friday declined to entertain a petition seeking direction for safety and security of doctors in government hospitals across the country. "Having heard counsel for the petitioner and on perusing the relevant material, we are not inclined to entertain the present writ petition and the same is accordingly dismissed. Pending interlocutory applications, if any, shall stand disposed of," a bench comprising Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi and Justice Deepak Gupta said.

The plea was filed last month by advocate Alakh Alok Srivastava in the wake of protests by doctors in West Bengal against assault on their colleagues, allegedly by the relatives of a patient, who died on June 10 at a Kolkata hospital... (ET HealthWorld – PTI, July 28, 2019)

Wish had a strong organization like lawyers.Even judiciary is scared of their unity and dances to to their tune unlike doctors who can be manhandled by any Tom,Dick and Harry

The society including the judiciary is against the doctors. The Govt and now the judiciary also feels that let the doctors themselves face the errant mob. Why should we attend to serious patients and then risk our lives. Ethics can only be observed if we live or have a healthy body to observe the ethics.

There is no safety for medical professional thats what is happening in a day today practice, and though some cases can be managed in the system many doctors are not willing to take the responsibility because of the legal system in such a way it wont protect doctors.i feel patient will have more suffering by doing this than good to society.

Public servant security while on duty is responsibility of the system, which include police and giving direction to police is responsibility of parliamentarians and Judiciary. It is unfair that the genuine grievance of medical fraternity is not even heard and petition is rejected.
