On Sunday, 50 special teams headed by the deputy director and Joint director of health service have arrested more than 20 quacks in Vellore after receiving numerous complaints of quacks operating in the district.

I Yasmin, Joint director of health service, Vellore said that most of the arrested quacks were previously para-medics at private hospitals or had worked as pharmacists. Many of the accused used to run single-bedroom clinics. Because their consultation fees were minimal compared to charges in hospitals, people consulted them in large numbers.

Almost five quacks operating in Tirupattur, three in Thimmapet (Vaniyambadi), four from Paradharami, and one each from Melpatti, Umarabad , Sholingur and Anaicut have been arrested with the help of local police. . The officials have recovered medicines and medical equipment and have sealed their clinics.
