  • Normal saline can induce hyperchloremia and exacerbate metabolic acidosis.
  • It may cause renal vasoconstriction and reduction of GFR.
  • Do not use hydroxyethyl starch.
  • Albumin has no benefit over crystalloids.
  • Some concerns about use of large volume; normal saline and balanced solution may be better.
