On Tuesday, Kota’s chief medical health officer explained during a hearing at National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) that all the 112 infant deaths were not because of medical negligence or lack of essential medical equipment at J K Lon hospital.

BS Tanwar submitted a detailed reply before NCPCR with statistics on the number of pregnant women, anaemic expectant mothers and low-birth weight babies in Kota district stating that they need to look into each case and examine it in detail to know the voids. He further said that several infants were brought from neighboring districts such as Madhya Pradesh and might have been exposed to extreme cold during transit.
