It’s the time for Homoeopaths across the world to join the fight against coronavirus and show that the concept of nosodes works.

Modern medicine uses vaccines for prevention and it has none for the current coronavirus infection. A “Vaccine” is a substance used in active immunization. Active immunization refers to inoculation, usually by means of an injection, of a special antigen to promote antibody production. This may include dead bacteria (e.g. Typhoid), dead viruses (e.g. Salk polio), live viruses (e.g. Sabin’s polio), or toxoids (e.g. Tetanus or Diphtheria).

Homoeopathy has its own theory regarding vaccination. It does not introduce pathogenic microorganisms into the body. Hence, the medicine cannot be called vaccine. Nosodes are the vaccine-equivalents, which exert a prophylactic effect. They are taken orally and are prepared by the process of potentization. With potentization, no trace of the original pathogen remains.

A nosode is made from matter obtained from a sick animal or person. Respiratory discharges or diseased tissues are used. The preparation involves the use of alcohol, as well as repeated dilution and succession process, which renders the substances harmless, while producing a powerful remedy.

All through the history of Homoeopathy, this medicine has proved effective in preventing and curing epidemics. Dr Samuel Hahnemann, the Father of Homoeopathy, successfully treated epidemics of scarlet fever.

The Journal of the American Institute for Homeopathy published an article in 1921 about the use of homoeopathy in the flu epidemic.  Dr. T A McCann reported that 24,000 cases of flu treated allopathically had a mortality rate of 28.2% while 26,000 cases of flu treated homoeopathically had a mortality rate of 1.05%.

Nosodes have long been used in prophylaxis. Influenzinum has been used in flu prophylaxis and Morbillinum in a measles epidemic. The sarcode Anas barbare hepatis et cardus extractum (liver and heart of the Barbary duck) has been used for flu.  It is derived from tissues of the native host of influenza, and is prepared from tissue containing and reacting to the influenza virus.

Dr. H.C. Allen notes about Diphtherinum, "The author has used it for twenty-five years as a prophylactic and has never known a second case of diphtheria to occur in a family after it had been administered".

Homoeopathic preparations do not raise antibody levels. Smits tested the titer of antibodies to diphtheria, polio and tetanus in ten children before and a month after homoeopathic medication of these three vaccines (DTPol 30K and 200K). There was no rise in antibody levels (Smits, 1995). He speculated that protection offered by a homoeopathic remedy acts on a deeper level than that of antibodies.

Homoeopathic remedies can diminish the patients sensitivity to the dynamic stimulus of the virus or bacteria, thus decreasing the patients predisposition to being overcome by this stimulus (Golden, 1994).

If homoeopathic remedies do not increase antibody levels, then the only way their effectiveness can be quantified is through clinical results. In modern medicine, a similar concept has been used in making a lung cancer nosode equivalent by repeatedly radiating the lung cancer tissue. I personally have seen many anecdote cases that nosodes work.
