Delhi's Kasturba Hospital calls for 'mass resignation' due non-payment of salaries for 3 months

On Wednesday, the Resident Doctors Association of New Delhis Kasturba Hospital has called for a mass resignation unless they are paid their pending 3 months’ salary by 16th June.

The letter read that “This is to inform that the resident doctors have not received their salary for the last 3 months. All the resident doctors are been working in this COVID-19 pandemic continuously and putting themselves and their families lives in danger.’

The letter has stated that above that the doctors are not being paid salaries due to which they are unable to pay house rent, travelling expenses that are huge and to purchase essential commodities.

The resident doctors said that they cannot work more without money and being the front line workers they should be paid the pending salaries also ensure a regular salary payout.

The letter further read that if they wont be paid by 16th June 2020, they will have to move for Mass Resignation. They hope that the concerned authorities will take some immediate action of their notice to resolve the issue within time on priority basis.

North MCD Commissioner Varsha Joshi had earlier confirmed that junior resident doctors, nursing staffs, and some other staff in North MCD were paid salaries till February, as reported by Indian Express in last month.

Hindu Rao Hospital, Kasturba Hospital, Maharishi Valmiki Infectious Diseases, Rajan Babu Institute of Pulmonary Medicine and Tuberculosis and Girdhari Lal Maternity Hospital comes under the North MCD. It has employees as follows: 1,000 senior doctors, 500 resident doctors and 1,500 nursing officers.
