Highest single-day spike seen in India with 16,922 new cases of COVID-19

On Wednesday, Delhi reported 3,788 new coronavirus cases, taking the total count in the city above the 70,000-mark and the death count to 2,365 due to the infection.

With the rising cases, the national capital has replaced Mumbai and has become the worst-hit city in the country, as reported by the news agency PTI. Mumbais COVID-19 total count on Wednesday was at 69,625.

So far, India has reported 4, 56,183 lakh cases, including 14,476 deaths. According to an AFP tally, the pandemic has killed almost 473,475 people worldwide from the time when it emerged in China December last year.

The United States has reported most deaths at 120,913 and is followed by Brazil with 51,271 deaths, Britain with 42,927 deaths, Italy with 34,675 deaths and France with 29,720 deaths

On Wednesday, 223 new COVID-19 cases were reported in Bihar, taking the count to 8,273 and the death count reached 55, as per the state health department. According to the daily bulletin that is issued by the health department, the latest fatality was reported from Patna district. The total number of coronavirus cases in Patna reached to 485 from 451 on Tuesday.

490 fresh COVID-19 cases were reported in Haryana on Wednesday taking the tally in the state to 12,010. As per the Haryanas Health Department, 6,925 people have recovered or discharged so far and the total death count has reached to 188.
