1st COVID hospital to be launched by IMA for doctors and judicial staff in Tirupati

In coordination with the doctors of government and private hospitals, the Indian Medical Association (IMA), is prepared to launch an exclusive 140-bed COVID-19 hospital for doctors and members of the judiciary. From 15th July, the same would be functional too on the ESI Hospital premises at Tirupati

P. Ravi Raju, the IMA Tirupati Chapter president said that for the first time in India the IMA had materialized with an action plan to launch a hospital only for the doctors and judiciary. He further said that all government and private doctors have conveyed their overwhelming support to this project. The main highlight of this hospital is that they would have pulmonologists, critical and intensive care specialist’s 24-hour.

The IMA functionary thanked the Deputy Chief Minister K. Narayanaswamy and District Collector Narayana Bharat Gupta for their immediate permission for the project. They said that the initiative to have a COVID hospital would enhance the morale of the medical fraternity when almost 20 staff had tested positive in Chittoor district.

Dr. Ravi Raju said that the medical teams from government and private hospitals will be appointed in three shifts. The cases will be separated into three categories according to their condition, from asymptomatic to critical. They have brought all the equipment for the required treatment. All the medical fraternity that are involved in this project would be covered under the Aarogyasri and the Prime Minister’s health insurance scheme.

The official stated that the paramedical workers along with the administrative staff would be allotted duties at the new hospital through the District medical and health officer (DMHO), Superintendent of SVRR Government Hospital, District Coordinator of Health Services (DCHS) and Director of SVIMS Hospital. The payment for the medical employee’s at this new hospital would be according to the IMA norms.

The fresh cases of COVID-19 will be directly referred to the Padmavathi Hospital and TTD’s Madhavam facility and the necessary tests would be performed. This will reduce the workload on the SVRR Government Hospital at Tirupati.
