Telangana Police has busted an international kidney racket, which was spread across the foreign shores for a large amount by trapping poor people. The police said that one person has been arrested and the racket has been operating for a very long time. This racket came to light when a family who had paid Rs 34 lakh for a kidney had complained to the police.

Hyderabad police had arrested 25-year-old DS Pavan Srinivas, who is a native of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and a resident of Hyderabad, who himself had donated one of his kidney and after recognizing the huge money potential, then started arranging for kidney donors.

Joint Commissioner AR Srinivas said that the accused is an MBA graduate and has assisted around nine kidney transplants. For every transplant, the accused would earn a commission of approximately Rs 6 lakh. Police are trying to identify now the city doctors who are involved in this kidney racket.

D Pavan Srinivas had duped a woman by collecting Rs 34 lakh from her on the grounds of providing a kidney donor for her ill husband.

Police also said that Srinivas was in contact with a few city-based doctors for information on kidney transplantation in Sri Lanka and Turkey. For giving out donor details, Srinivas would give a commission to city-based doctors in return. Police have taken him into custody for getting the details of donors and doctors involved.
