India has recorded over 12 lakh new COVID-19 cases in the month of August, which is higher than the number of cases reported previously in any month. The number also accounts for the highest tally by any country during August. The numbers were reported on the day when Indiar ecorded over 69,000 newc ases, the second highest single-day countthus far, and 986 deaths.

The country’s tally of coronavirus cases till 20th August was 1207539, according to data obtained from state governments.

The country’s case count for the month of July stood at 11,09,444. Indias case count for August continues to be the highest in the world, followed by the US with 9,94,863 cases (till August 19) and Brazil with 7,94,115 cases, as per worldometers.info.

On Thursday, 69,317 new COVID-19 cases were added to the country’s tally, with the total number of cases now standing at more than 29 lakh… (ET Healthworld – TNN)
