Approximately 870 doctors were appointed to COVID first-line treatment centres (FLTCs) throughout Kerala during this coronavirus pandemic. And now all the doctors have given their resignation regarding deductions in their salary.

The doctors who were appointed were among the 1,080 MBBS graduates who had passed out of government medical colleges in this year and were appointed on COVID duty on a temporary basis. All of them were promised Rs 42,000 per month, however, each doctor received Rs 27,000.

Dr Ousam Hussain KP, who is a state president of Kerala junior doctors association 2020-21, said that from the total amount, Rs 8,400 was deducted stating the government’s salary challenge, besides TDS and professional tax. And currently, they are getting only Rs 27,000.
