Delhi records 1 lakh new COVID-19 cases and 1,200 deaths since 1st November

Delhi had reported more than one lakh new coronavirus cases and approximately 1,200 deaths between 1st-16th November whereas almost 94,000 COVID-19 patients had recovered during the same period, as per the official data. The capital has witnessed a sudden upsurge in COVID-19 cases since 28th October and the daily rise in cases crossed the 5,000-mark for the 1st time and it also crossed the 8,000-mark on 11th November.

On 12th November 12, 104 coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in the city that was the highest in five months. As per the health department data, 1,01,070 coronavirus cases are recorded till now In this month. 1,202 people have died whereas 93,885 coronavirus patients have recovered since 1st November.

Delhi reported 5,664 cases on 1st November and increased to 8,593 on 11th November, the highest single-day spike. It recorded 7,053 new cases on 12th November followed by 7,802 on 13th November 13, 7,340 on 14th November 14, 3,235 on 15th November and 3,797 on 16th November. From 11th-16th November, the fatality count was at 85; 104; 91; 96; 95 and 99 respectively.

Also, 7,606 coronavirus patients recovered on 15th November which was the highest single-day recovery count of this month. On Wednesday, 7,264 people recovered from coronavirus and on Thursday, almost 6,462 people recovered from it. From 13-16 November, the recovery count reached 6,498; 7,117; 7,606 and 3,560 respectively.

On Monday, Delhi had recorded 3,797 new COVID-19 cases, taking the total count to 4.89 lakh with 99 new fatalities taking the toll to 7,713. These relatively low numbers of new cases were because only 29,871 tests were conducted on Sunday. The active cases total count on Monday had reached 40,128.

Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had sought power from the Centre for imposinga lockdown in those markets that have emerged as COVID-19 hotspots. He also decided to withdraw the order that allowed 200 guests to attend wedding functions. He further said that the Delhi government has already sent a proposal to Anil Baijal, Lt Governor for permitting only 50 people to attend wedding ceremonies against the earlier limit of 200 people.
