COVID-19 vaccination for citizens above 50 to start in March, says Health Minister

The third phase of inoculations against COVID-19, which includes citizens over 50 years of age and those who are younger than 50 but have serious co-morbidities, will start probably around mid-March, stated health minister Dr Harsh Vardhan in the Lok Sabha.

The government had recently suggested that the individuals above 50 years of age would soon receive the vaccination and that initial preference might be given to individuals over 60 years of age.

More than 5 million people have already been vaccinated across the country and the government intends to vaccinate some three crore healthcare and frontline workers by the month of April. This will be followed by the priority group of above 50 years and the younger age group with severe co-morbidities… (ET Healthworld – TNN, February 6, 2021)
