Doctor’s goes on strike in Delhi's Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan after 4 doctors were assaulted

On Tuesdayevening, the Doctors of Dr Hedgewar Arogya Sansthan in Karkardooma had gone ona flash strike. This happened after four doctors on duty from the hospital wereallegedly beaten up by two individuals who had brought a patient to theirhospital’s emergency department.

Two out ofthe four doctors had suffered head injuries, one doctor had a fractured wrist,and the other doctor suffered minor injuries, as told by the doctors at thehospital. A fight had broken after a security guard on duty had asked the peoplewho were accompanying the patient to remove their car that was parked in frontof the emergency wing’s gate.

The two peoplewere quickly joined by several other people and when the doctors who were onduty interfered, then they also got beaten. Dr Ajay Lekhi, Former president, DelhiMedical Association, who reached the hospital after the incident occurred saidthat one of the two doctors sustained head injuries and was feeling giddy andwas also in serious condition. They have asked the hospital medicalsuperintendent to immediately register an institutional FIR. The doctors went onstrike demanding the culprits to be arrested.

ResidentDoctors’ Association members from Lady Hardinge Medical College too came insupport of the attacked doctors. A FORDA delegation rushed to Hedgewar Hospitaland has extended all the possible support to the doctors over there.

ParthBora, president of the association said that Forda India has strongly condemnedthe assault on resident doctors’ of Hedgewar hospital. And they demand strictaction against the culprits at the earliest.
