Two doctors from Gujarat have re-joined their work, hours after cremating their mothers. The two doctors name are Shilpa Patel and Rahul Parmar. Shilpa lost her mother to COVID and Rahul lost his mother because of age-related illness. Shilpa said that they had shifted her mother from Mehsana to Vadodara as the private doctor told them that they have to arrange for remdesivir themselves. Since she was admitted at the SSG hospital in Vadodara only, she could at least visit her.

Shilpa recalls how her mother always mentioned that duty comes first before anything else. Rahul Parmar is a nodal officer for COVID management. He said that it was a natural death for his mother. He finished the rituals of cremation with his family and returned to Vadodara. He had contracted COVID-19 last December. He said that he was administered Remdesivir and after 14 days of quarantine period, here-joined his duty.

India is currently facing a second wave of coronavirus cases with numbers increasing daily. India has managed to immunize more than 11 crore people. Also, due to the shortage of vaccines, India has opened doors for importing other vaccines from different countries.

Several states have imposed night curfews and are considering other measures to control the spread of the coronavirus. Delhi has imposed a lockdown for 6 days from tonight. Governments are urging people not to move out unnecessarily and maintain social distancing and wear masks when outside. Governments are making arrangements to provide oxygen support to patients. Along with Indian Railways, they are creating a green corridor to facilitate this movement.
