The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has approved a self-use Rapid Antigen Test for COVID-19.

The test is named CoviSelf and has been developed indigenously for home testing.The test is advised to be used only for symptomatic individuals and those who have come in contact with lab-confirmed COVID positive patients, an ICMR advisory for COVID-19 home testing using the RAT kit said. The advisory stated that people who test positive may be considered as true positives and for all symptomatic individuals who test negative, it should be followed by RTPCR as RATs may miss few positive cases with a low viral load.
