The Indian Medical Association (IMA) said on Tuesday that at least 594 doctors have succumbed in the second wave of coronavirus infections in India till now, with Delhi contributing to 107 deaths.

IMA has put out state-wise data that shows that approximately every second doctor who has died in the 2nd Covid-19 wave had died either in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh or Bihar. Together, these three states account for almost 45 per cent of the doctor’s death in the second wave.

In total, the IMA said approximately 1,300 doctors have passed away on duty fighting against Covid-19 since the pandemic started last year.
