Vaccination has been found to be highly effective at preventing severe COVID-19, even against the Delta variant, stated a study conducted in France.

The study, aimed at prevention of severe COVID-19 and death, assessed 22 million individuals aged above 50 years. Researchers noted that those who had received vaccination were 90% less likely to be hospitalized or die due to COVID. 

The study involved vaccination with Pfizer/BioNtech, Moderna and AstraZeneca shots. Vaccination against COVID-19 was shown to be nearly as effective against the Delta variant, with 84% protection for those aged 75 years and above and 92% for those aged 50-75 years.
