Cholecalciferol Supplementation is Effective for Suppressing Secondary Hyperparathyroidism in CKD Patients with Vitamin D Deficiency

  1. The study was a cross-sectional study to understand association between vitamin D levels and markers of bone turnover in CKD.
  2. The study results suggested that correction of native vitamin D deficiency is effective in achieving sufficient level of 25(OH)D in predialysis CKD G3-4 subjects.
  3. The results were shown to have a favorable effect on several biochemical parameters of CKD-MBD.
  4. Vitamin D deficiency is a potentially modifiable risk factor for bone mineral disease in subjects with stage G3-G4 CKD.
