CDC recommends mRNA vaccines over J&J shot

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has recommended that the people of America should choose to receive either Pfizer or Moderna COVID-19 vaccines over the Johnson & Johnson shot, because of the rare but sometimes life-threatening cases of blood clots.

The CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization voted unanimously in favor of the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines over the J&J jab. Fewer Americans have been administered the J&J COVID-19 vaccine in comparison with the other two vaccines by a significant margin. Among over 200 million fully vaccinated individuals in the United States, nearly 16 million have been administered the J&J shot, reported CDC data.

Johnson & Johnson said in a statement that the safety of people who take its vaccine is its highest priority and that the company is willing to work with the CDC on the next steps… (Reuters, December 17, 2021)
