India could soon have its first mRNA vaccine, as the Phase 3 clinical trials by Gennova Biopharmaceuticals are nearing completion. The company has also started developing an Omicron-specific vaccine using the same platform.

The company recently submitted Phase 2 trial data of more than 3,000 participants of their mRNA vaccine developed on the Delta variant, and is about to complete the Phase 3 trials. It has started manufacturing the vaccine and will be able to roll out adequate quantities once a regulatory approval is received. The country’s drug regulator will likely review the data this week and a decision regarding approval will be taken soon, stated official sources. The company has developed the mRNA vaccine for Omicron variant in the lab, which will soon be tested for human use… (ET Healthworld – TNN, January 17, 2022)
