After the third wave in India faded in a complete reversal, doctors are witnessing a spike in Covid 19 numbers in several states. Though the nationwide numbers are at a two-year low, Delhi, Haryana, and Gujarat have reported a rise in average daily cases. Healthcare professionals state that reopening of schools, relaxation of Covid restrictions, and dropping of masks in several states are the reasons behind the spike.

On Tuesday, two schools in Ghaziabad and one in Noida were shut after 18 students tested positive for Covid infection. Sandeep Budhiraja, Director, Max healthcare briefed that the number of cases is developing in the families of school-going children. However, the patients didn’t need any investigation and hospitalization but the call for help has started coming in.

The positivity rate in the Capital has jumped from 1% in the previous week to 2.7 % with 137 new cases recorded as of Monday. Haryana has recorded a 50% hike in fresh cases. Health Minister Manshuk Mandaviya assessed the situation on Tuesday with several experts who concluded that there was no cause for concern.
