A study is being conducted by the Union health ministry under the "Heal by India" initiative to identify the requirement of different categories of healthcare professionals in foreign countries, based on the burden of diseases and shortages.

According to preliminary survey findings, several foreign countries like Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, the United States, Singapore, Nepal, Cuba, and Israel needed different medical professionals including doctors, gynecologists, dentists and nurses. The Netherlands, the United States, Singapore, and Cuba required Physiotherapists, while radiology and imaging technologists were needed in the United States and Israel.

The ministry is working on an internet database that will enlist all types of healthcare workers, including doctors, nurses, and pharmacists, in addition to the countries where they intend to work.

The portal, which is being developed by the National Health Authority (NHA) as a part of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), will permit healthcare specialists to sign up and specify which country they need to work, the languages they know, visa and country-precise and qualifying examination details, in addition to their traditional heritage information, is predicted to be released on August 15. In partnership with numerous Indian regulatory bodies, the NHA is compiling records from healthcare practitioners. (ETHealthWorld, June 13, 2022)
