A greater frequency of TV viewing was found to be independently associated with increased risk of VTE, partially mediated by obesity in a study published February 21, 2018 in the Journal of Thrombosis and Thrombolysis. Also, achieving a recommended physical activity level did not remove the increased VTE risk suggesting that all three factors need to be improved to reduce the risk of VTE: Avoiding frequent TV viewing, increasing physical activity and controlling body weight.
