Senior AIADMK leader and Tamil Nadu minister Dindigul C Srinivasan had claimed that J Jayalalithaa was fed unsuitable food by her long-time close aide VK Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dhinakaran.

Chennai: In a big development in the Jayalalithaa death probe, the doctors at Apollo Hospital have confirmed that the former Tamil Nadu chief minister did not die of ‘slow poison’. Two senior doctors on Tuesday deposed before the one-man commission probing Jayalalithaa’s death and debunked the claims that Jayalalithaa had been fed ‘slow poison’.

A few days ago, senior AIADMK leader and minister Dindigul C Srinivasan had claimed that the late CM had been fed slow poison by her long-time close aide VK Sasikala and her nephew TTV Dhinakaran. Apollo doctor Dr Ramesh Venkatraman, however, yesterday refuted the allegations.

In his allegations, Srinivasan had claimed that the duo gave unsuitable food to Jayalalithaa who was diabetic. He claimed that the AIADMK chief was driven to death.

The minister had levelled the allegations at a party event on Saturday.

Srinivasan claimed that Sasikala was not concerned about Jayalalithaa’s diabetic condition and continued to give her unsuitable food. “Just like feeding slow poison, they (Sasikala and family) fed food items which were not conducive to Jayalalithaa’s health and which eventually led to death of our leader,” he said, as per a report in the Hindustan Times.

“When Jayalalithaa was alive, Sasikala assisted the former in her daily routine. Misusing that proximity, Dhinakaran used to threaten AIADMK workers. However, such strategies will not work now,” Srinivasan could be heard in a viral video of the event.

Sasikala is currently serving a four-year jail term following her conviction in a disproportionate assets case, while Dhinakaran is leading a rebel faction of the AIADMK.
