  1. With a startling augment in the co-existence of tuberculosis (TB) and diabetes mellitus (DM), India has to combat an immense burden of eradicating two potentially complicated diseases.
  2. As the link between TB and DM has been well-established, implementation of screening and research programs to prevent, monitor, as well as eradicate the dual burden is becoming a prime necessity.
  3. Early detection of TB in people with diabetes and vice versa is extremely important to guarantee the best possible treatment for persons affected with both the diseases.
  4. Integration of national-level awareness and screening programs for DM and TB among people, especially who live in rural and low socioeconomic set ups will serve as an immediate solution to tackle the situation in developing countries like India.
